Sometimes called the “cost of caring,” STS is the impact on caregivers—on their bodies, minds, emotions and relationships—when they help and bear witness to people with injury and trauma.
The good news about STS is that it’s treatable…and preventable. Individuals, workplaces and policy-makers can provide support, restructure organizations and practice strategies to reduce STS, building a culture in which we care for one another while nourishing ourselves.
